Sunrise Apartments project is located in SectorP, Kanpur Road near Amausi Airport. This is a composite township of flats, plots, duplex houses and a commercial establishment. The project started in 2002 and it was to be completed in 2012. But, owing to the agitation of farmers due to lower compensation for their land on which the project was being built, there was delay in providing flats to the buyers. Over 600 families have fully paid for the flats that they have been waiting for since over 15 years now. They have been continuously filing complaints about the delayed possession. After High Court's intervention in 2014, the LDA and Housing and Development Board promised to begin the work in 2014 but nothing of that sort happened. It was only later that LDA took a serious cognizance of the delay and began construction. However, the issue with the farmers hasn't been resolved, according to a report. The said land on which farmers are demanding compensation is nazul land, which according to officials farmers are not eligible for compensation on nazul land. Nazul land is the land situated beyond two miles of the Municipal Limits, which is reverted back to the State Government and has not already been appropriated by the State Government for any purpose. But the officials said in 2014 that they were working on the middle path to give farmers their dues as they depended on the land for their livelihood. In 2019, the UP government announced along with the UP Real Estate Regulatory authority (RERA) that it will waive penal interest and other dues on builder who misses deadlines to give possession to allottees. This is because the LDA failed to give possession of land to them in time. The builders however are expected to provide homes to the buyers by June 2021. As of recently, the sunrise apartments has been built and people have possession of the flats.
