The Lucknow Development Authority had acquired land from 23 villages in between 19761987 for Mansarovar Housing project at Kanpur Road. The farmers are demanding compensation more than what is presently being given to them. The farmers also contend that government job to one person per family was also promised, which has not been realised. The Bhartiya Kisan Union, under the banner of which the protests are being held, feels that the farmers have been cheated by the Government.
