Urban vs Rural: Unpacking the impact of forced evictions.
Urban conflicts, accounting for 36% of cases, affect over 10 lakh people, while rural conflicts, making up 59%, impact 3 lakh individuals. Forced evictions predominantly affect residential land use #UrbanRuralDivide
In eviction-related land conflicts, the top demands are legal recognition of land rights and retaining access to common land. Rehabilitation appeals and complaints against procedural breaches are frequent as well.

Our database and legal analysis reveal recurring trends of inadequate land rights protection, displacement without rehabilitation, and violations of the FRA.
