Punjab and Haryana High Court (HC) in a response to PIL filed over the construction of illegal hotels around the golden temple, had instructed the Municipal Corporation (MC) of Amritsar to not approve any site plans of new construction. Following HC order MC demolished two structure and sealed four buildings to check illegal construction in the city. Besides this, another owner has been sent notice by MC to stop construction. The local residents resist the demolition drive by heavy machine as it might cause damage to adjoining buildings. However, officials said that concern of local residents was addressed and the demolition work was done with extreme care. The building near Gheo Mandi and Lalan Wali Gali, Mai Ratto wali Gali have been demolished.
