Dalits from around 29 villages near Sangrur district have protested against the state government over reserved land. They have formed Zameen Prapti Sangarsh Committee (ZPSC) to protest. They have demanded to lower the auction rate for reserve land so that Dalits can buy land. They have alleged that landlords from upper caste community by using dummy Dalits want to take the reserve land. For this, they have been protesting on roads and in front of DC's office since past few days. Instead of listening to them, media have reported that false FIRs have been registered against protesting Dalits. Now Dalits have warned to intensify the protest and threatened to take over land forcibly.
